Youth Mentoring

“It’s amazing to see how a little effort can really turn a kid around”

Tom Martin, Mentor

Youth Mentoring Program

The power of knowing someone is standing by your side can change everything.  Did you know that mentored youth are 55% less likely to skip a day of school, 55% more likely to enroll in college, 46% less likely to start using illegal drugs and 27% less likely to start drinking, 78% more likely to volunteer regularly, and 130% more likely to hold leadership positions?  The Mentoring Program pairs youth between the ages of 9 and 17 who live in DeKalb, Noble and Steuben counties with a background screened and trained adult Mentor.  The matches develop nurturing relationships by meeting virtually or in-person a minimum of 3-8 hours a month for no less than one year.  Individual and group activities such as bowling, college visits, field trips to farms, trips to sports events and more make this powerful program a fun experience for everyone.

Those interested in becoming a Mentor or would like to refer a child can contact the North Region office at (260) 925-0917, or fill out the interest form below.
