Response to Dobbs v. Jackson

Statement

In response to today's Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, Catholic Charities USA issued the following statement and our organization, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, stands committed to protecting all forms of life.

“As we have since our founding more than 100 years ago, CCUSA remains committed to walking in solidarity with all those who come to our doors, whether they are girls or women in crisis pregnancies or families facing challenging social, economic or housing circumstances. Our compassion for those struggling with difficulties often beyond their control is coupled with a call for strong social supports – including food, health and housing policies – that uplift and promote the welfare of all. This call is consistent with our Catholic faith and values, with our mission to alleviate suffering and reduce poverty, and with the teachings of the Gospels.

Catholic Charities provides social services to help women and girls during pregnancy and after the birth of a child. These social services include financial and material support; care and counseling during prenatal, postnatal and postpartum stages; adoption; and housing. To learn more about the work of the Catholic Charities agency nearest you, visit catholiccharitiesusa.org.”

Resources specifically for expecting mothers:

As a social service agency, we not only walk with mothers through pregnancy but also provide resources and hope after the child is born. Every day, we live out the meaning of truly being pro-life towards everyone we encounter. We provided services to all, despite religion, gender, affiliation and nationality because we strongly believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect. If you or someone you know is in need of parenting resources, we can help you and your child.
