1st Source Foundation Joins as Presenting Sponsor for Global Day of Service

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (April 24, 2023) – Today, 1st Source Foundation announced support for the University of Notre Dame’s inaugural Global Day of Service, by signing on as the lead sponsor of Build-a-Bed.

“When we learned that 2,000-3,000 children in our region don’t go to sleep in a bed of their own, each night, we were immediately called to join this effort to ensure the children of our community have a comforting place to sleep,” stated Chris Murphy, Chairman of 1st Source Bank.  “Not only did we immediately pledge financial support, but our team members were quick to ask how they could support this day of service with their talent and time as well.’”

Presented by 1st Source Foundation, on Saturday, April 29, 2023, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fort Wayne – South Bend (CCFWSB) and the Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph Valley (NDSJV) will bring together volunteers to build 150 beds for children from throughout our region. Rain or shine, volunteers will help assemble beds for four hours – no experience needed.

This special day will also serve as the launch of the South Bend Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, which will provide a permanent source of beds in Michiana.

“1st Source is recognized as one of the most innovative corporations in Indiana. We are fortunate that their leadership continues to be deeply rooted and personally committed to the communities they serve”, said Dan Florin, CEO of CCFWSB.

Andrea Short, President and CEO, 1st Source Bank, commented further, “At 1st Source, we strongly believe that when we come together, we have the power to create healthier futures for our communities and in particular for our area’s children. We welcome and encourage our community partners to join us!”
