RSVP Celebrates 47th Year During Older American’s Month

The National Retired Senior Volunteer Program is celebrating its 47th year of pairing those over the age of 55 with local volunteer needs. The program focuses on leveraging the skill sets seniors bring to the community with the needs of local nonprofits.

To recognize the difference of RSVP Participants have been making since 1977 in DeKalb, Noble, Steuben, and LaGrange counties, Catholic Charities held a Spring Recognition event today.

The program has brought a multitude of good to the community, including:

  • Community Center of Caring Food Pantry

  • Share the Warmth Coat Giveaway

  • Pack a Backpack Giveaway

  • VITA Tax

  • Teddy Bears for ER visits

  • Be Excited About Reading

  • Giving comfort items to those in need

  • Cancer quilts for Camp Whatcha Wanna Do

  • Pioneer Day

  • Giving out Weather Radios

  • 911 Cellphones

  • Lazy Eye Screening

The program has won many awards over the years for their innovative projects and outstanding volunteers.
