Catholic Charities and SVDP to Host Hygiene Drive for National Eucharistic Pilgrimage

About the Pilgrimage:

On Saturday, July 6, the families of Miami Village, Catholic Charities, the Cathedral of St. Matthew, and others will join the Marian Route Pilgrims for a day of service.

Join Catholic Charities on July 6:

10:00 am: ​Arrival and introductions

10:15 am:​ Opening prayer

10:20 am: ​Garden work or distribute hygiene bags

12:00 pm:​ Lunch hosted by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fort Wayne South Bend

1:00 pm:​ Resume garden work or handing out hygiene bags

2:30 pm: ​Closing prayer and pilgrims’ departure

Miami Village Unity Garden

Pilgrims will assemble and hand out personal hygiene bags to neighbors living in Miami Village.

Housed on the Diocesan grounds of Catholic Charities and the Cathedral of St. Matthew Parish and School, Pilgrims will continue to plant and tend the Miami Village Unity Garden.


About the Drive:

Catholic Charities and the St. Vincent de Paul Conference at the Cathedral of St. Matthew will host a hygiene drive from June 17 to July 2. Donated items will be distributed to those in need at Catholic Charities Food Pantry. Any remaining bags will be shared by both organizations.

Items Needed:

Hygiene Items:

  • Bar soap

  • Body wash & loofas

  • Deodorant

  • Shampoo

  • Conditioner

  • Hair oil (for all ethnicities)

  • Toothbrush

  • Toothpaste

  • Lotion

Pets:

  • Food

  • Collars

  • Leashes

Mom & Baby:

  • Breast pads

  • Diapers (sizes 4-6)

  • Pull-ups

  • Disposable bed pads (for potty training)

Drop Off:

Items may be dropped off at Catholic Charities or SVDP bins located within the Cathedral of St. Matthew by July 2.
