National Volunteer Month

During National Volunteer Month, we want to spotlight the 292 amazing volunteers who live out our mission to serve all those in need last year. It is because of their dedication and hard work, hope begins everyday for the people we serve.

“We are so thankful for the wonderful and diverse group of volunteers we have in each of our three regional offices,” said Dan Florin, CEO of CCFWSB. “Volunteers are instrumental in our service delivery. For instance, our food pantries would cease to run, our citizenship classes would be canceled, and there would be no in-home ESL tutoring. It is because of these volunteers’ dedication that our clients can take one more step towards self-sufficiency.”

Between our three regional offices, Catholic Charities offers many ways to get involved with the different communities we serve.

Fort Wayne:

  • Volunteer with refugee services

  • Volunteer with immigration services

  • Volunteer with stability services

  • Volunteer in the donation room

Auburn:

  • Volunteer with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program

  • Volunteer as a mentor

  • Volunteer for the coats or backpack programs

  • Volunteer in the food pantry

South Bend:

  • Volunteer with refugee services

  • Volunteer in the food pantry

  • Volunteer with stability services

“Most people think they 1) have to be Catholic or 2) need to speak a different language in order to volunteer at Catholic Charities,” said Althea Shoaf, CCFWSB volunteer coordinator. “Neither of those myths are true. We welcome a diverse group of volunteers because the people we serve are diverse. Every helping hand makes a world of difference.”
