Celebrating World Mental Health Day

By Mukhabbat Yusupova, MA, LMHC | Associate Director of West Region

As we celebrate World Mental Health Day this week, Catholic Charities is showing support for those struggling.

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me bring love.

Where there is offense, let me bring pardon.

Where there is doubt, let me bring faith.

Where there is despair, let me bring hope.

Where there is darkness, let me bring light.

Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.

O Master, let me not seek as much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that I receive, it is in self-forgetting that I find, it is in pardoning that I am pardoned,

and in dying that I am raised to eternal life.

Catholic Charities’ Counseling Services offer a wide range of services for individuals wrestling with various concerns such as Trauma, Personality Disorders, Behavioral issues, Anxiety Disorders, Bereavement-Grief Counseling, Christian Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Life Management Counseling, Substance Use (Addictions) counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mood Disorders, Parenting Issues, Stress Management, and many more.

We also offer counseling in Spanish, English, and Russian, but can utilize high-quality interpretation services for other language needs.

Counseling is one of Catholic Charities’ four core programs because it has a large connection to spiritual and emotional wellbeing. It affects every socioeconomic group, as well as one’s ability to work, parent, go to school, and build a thriving life.

At Catholic Charities, our vision is to be the starting line of hope for the people we serve. Hope is a Biblical principle and a strong spiritual force. Many clients enter counseling bereft of hope. We believe restoring courage and hope is an important aspect of helping people change.

At Catholic Charities, we offer a judgment-free zone, where each individual is created in the image of God – no matter their religious affiliation. Our team practices a holistic approach where we attend to the body, mind, and soul and each individual is respected and accepted for who they are.

We are inspired by St. Francis of Assisi. His simple faith, his passionate devotion to God and people, his humility and his love for the whole of creation have made him one of the most cherished saints in the modern world.
